About the Cold Hollow Cider Mill
History
Our Famous Cider Press
Production Area
The Mill

The Donut Counter
Our legendary cider donuts are made fresh every day, all day long. On the peak days during foliage season, we will produce over 400 dozen per day, a testimony to their immense popularity. Our venerable cider donuts were featured in the March 2000 issue of "Gourmet" magazine, as one of the top four donuts in the country! All this is due to a 25 year old secret recipe, locked in a vault.

The Bakery
Our natural foods bakery is our hidden gem but often the biggest hit with our visitors. Fresh baked aromas wafting through the Mill every day lure folks to the bake case where frequently the question "what looks good?" turns into: "how many of each?". Our bakers, Amy and Art, are a cross between gourmet chefs and mad scientists, constantly tempting us here at the Mill with some tantalizing new concoction. Pumpkin Rolls, Apple Cheddar Squares, Maple Cream Cheese Pockets, as well as the old standby Apple Pie have all become Cider Mill legends.

Vermont Specialty Foods

The Mill is home to literally thousands of specialty foods. Everything from pickled fiddleheads to pancake mix adorn our aisles. Each day we sample at least six of our own products. Usually our visitors can taste Maple Mustard, Maple Butter, Cider Jelly, and a variety of jellies, salsas, and hummus.

The Press Room
The main attraction at the Mill is, of course, the room where people can view our press and watch cider being made. While we do press cider year-round, during the winter and summer we press only three to four days a week. But then in the Fall, its Cider Season! From mid-September through December, its seven days a week. We also have a large sample tank, where viewers can enjoy a taste of fresh-pressed cider while they observe the press or watch a video which plays all day about our pressing process.

The Honey Corner
Most people know there is a real correlation between honeybees and apple orchards. Its the bees that pollenate the orchards every spring during the bloom to ensure a good crop. What most people don't know is that it only takes a hive about 2-3 hours to pollenate an entire good sized orchard. These facinating creatures can be seen right in the Mill in our observation hive located in our Honey Corner. The bees (behind glass) fly out through a tube to the outside and travel up to five miles away to retrieve pollen. Quite mesmerizing to watch, they are busy at work all summer long, and go into hibernation at the end of October. We offer regular, creamed, and combed honey in a variety of sizes.
